I Have Revealed You

John 17:4-6,14 – I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. “I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your wordI have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.

John 4:34 – “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

John 1:18 – No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

John 14:13 – And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Application:

  • ·         John often mentions that Jesus depended on the Father and did the work the Father sent Him to do.
  • ·         “The world” is the world that is hostile to God and God’s people.
  • ·         Since no human being can see God as He really is, those who saw God saw Him in a form He took upon Himself temporarily for the occasion.
  • ·         “In my name” is not simply prayer that mentions Jesus’ name but prayer in accordance with all that the person who bears the name is.
