John
15:4,7 – Remain in me, as I also
remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself;
it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me…If
you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you
wish, and it will be done for you.
Matthew 7:7 – “Ask and it will
be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will
be opened to you.
John 14:13 – And I will do whatever you
ask in my name, so that the Father may be
glorified in the Son.
Application:
- · It is impossible to pray correctly apart from knowing and believing the teachings of Christ.
- · A branch out of contact with the vine is lifeless.
- · Persistent prayer is being emphasized.
- · “In my name” is not simply prayer that mentions Jesus’ name but prayer in accordance with all that the person who bears the name is.
