Proverbs 19:27-20:1 –
Stop listening to instruction, my
son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge. A
corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down
evil. Penalties are prepared for mockers, and beatings for
the backs of fools. Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever
is led astray by them is not wise.
Proverbs
31:4-5 – It is not
for kings, Lemuel—it is not for kings to drink wine, not
for rulers to crave beer, lest they drink and forget what has been
decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.
Proverbs 23:20-21 – Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge
themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor,
and drowsiness clothes them in rags.
Genesis 9:21 – When he drank
some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered
inside his tent.
