Proverbs 20:20-22 – If someone curses their father or mother,
their lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness. An inheritance
claimed too soon will not be blessed at the end. Do not
say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.
Proverbs
19:26 – Whoever
robs their father and drives out their mother is a child who brings
shame and disgrace.
Proverbs 24:12 – If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not
he who weighs the heart
perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will
he not repay everyone
according to what they have done?
Deuteronomy 32:35 – It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip;
their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.”
Psalm 27:14 – Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Application:
- · Children were expected to take care of their parents when they were sick or elderly. Robbing them and attacking or calling down curses on them were serious crimes.
- · God knows even our thoughts and motives
- · Avenging is God’s prerogative, not ours.
- · Faith encourages faith.
