Proverbs 20:8-9 – When a king sits on his throne to judge,
he winnows out all evil with his eyes. Who can say, “I have kept
my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?
1
Kings 8:46-49 – “When
they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry
with them and give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far
away or near; and if they have a change of heart in the
land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of
their captors and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted
wickedly’; and if they turn back to you with all their
heart and soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive,
and pray to you toward the land you gave their
ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your
Name; then from
heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their plea, and uphold their
cause.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 – Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no
one who does what is right and never sins.
Romans 3:22-24 – This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus
Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Application:
- · No one is without sin—but those whose sins have been forgiven have “clean hands and a pure heart”.
- · “No one who does not sin” is a striking acknowledgment that sin is universal.
- · “No one on earth…righteous” is a sober Biblical truth.
- · “The glory of God” is what God intended humans to be.
