Proverbs 16:16-19 – How much better to get wisdom than gold,
to get insight rather than silver! The highway of the
upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives.
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty
spirit before a fall. Better to be
lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the
proud.
Proverbs
1:11-16 – If they
say, “Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for innocent blood,
let’s ambush some harmless soul; let’s swallow them alive, like the
grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; we
will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder;
cast lots with us; we will all share the loot”—my son, do
not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;
for their feet rush into evil, they are swift to shed blood.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will
make your paths straight.
Matthew 5:3 – “Blessed
are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
