Proverbs
18:10 – The name of
the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous
run to it and are safe.
Psalm 61:3 – For you
have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
Exodus 3:14 – God said to
Moses, “I
am who I am. This is what you are to say to the
Israelites: ‘I am has
sent me to you.’”
Psalm 144:2 – He is my
loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
Application:
- · The reason David appeals to God: God has never failed him as a refuge.
- · “I AM WHO I AM” was the name by which God wished to be known and worshiped in Israel—the name that expressed His character as the dependable and faithful God who desires the full trust of His people.
- · “My loving God” is literally, “my unfailing love”; so called because God is the source of benevolent acts of love that David can count on—just as God can be called “my salvation” because He is the source of salvation.
