Your Neighbor's Wife

Leviticus 18:18-20 – “‘Do not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living. “‘Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period. “‘Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.

Genesis 29:25 – When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? I served you for Rachel, didn’t I? Why have you deceived me?”

Exodus 20:14 – “You shall not commit adultery.

1 Corinthians 6:9 – Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men

Application:

• ·         See the account of Jacob with Leah and Rachel for an example of being married to sisters.
• ·         Adultery is a sin against God as well as against the marriage partner.
• ·         People who engage in adultery, male prostitution and homosexuality, as well as the other offenders, are explicitly excluded from God’s kingdom.
