Leviticus
22:31-33 – “Keep my commands and follow
them. I am the Lord. Do not profane my holy name, for I must be
acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the Lord, who made you holy and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 4:2 – Do not add to
what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the
commands of the Lord your
God that I give you.
Psalm
105:43-45 – He brought out his people with rejoicing,
his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations,
and they fell heir to what others had toiled for—that they might keep his
precepts and observe his laws. Praise the Lord.
Exodus 6:6 – “Therefore, say to the
Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of
the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I
will redeem you with an outstretched arm and
with mighty acts of judgment.
Genesis 17:7 – I will establish
my covenant as an everlasting covenant between
me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be
your God and the God of your descendants after you.
Application:
- · The revelation the Lord gives is sufficient. All of it must be obeyed and anything that contradicts it cannot be tolerated.
- · God’s redemptive work in fulfillment of His covenant promise has as its goal the creating of a people in the earth who conform their lives to His holy will.
- · The Lord’s acts include redemption and judgment.
- · “To be your God” is the heart of God’s covenant promise, repeated over and over in the Old Testament.
