Deuteronomy
8:3 – He humbled you,
causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known,
to teach you that man does not live on bread alone
but on every word that comes from the mouth of
the Lord.
Exodus 16:4 – Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down
bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out
each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them
and see whether they will follow my instructions.
Deuteronomy 6:13 – Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and
take your oaths in his name.
Application:
- · Bread sustains but does not guarantee life, which is God’s gift to those who trust in and live by His word: His commands and promises.
- · That the God of Israel could provide food in the wilderness for His people for 40 years was one of the great signs that Israel’s God was the true God, the Lord of creation.
- · Fear The Lord you God, serve Him only.
