There Is Life

Proverbs 12:27-13:3 – The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt. In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality. A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not respond to rebukes. From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence. Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.

Proverbs 3:1-2 – My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.

Proverbs 14:32 – When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God.

James 3:1 – Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

Application:

  • ·         Fear of the Lord brings health to the body and “adds length to life”. When Solomon prayed for wisdom, God promised him riches as well as long life if he obeyed God’s commands.
  • ·         The righteous faith in God gives them hope beyond the grave.
  • ·         The ability to control the tongue is one of the clearest marks of wisdom.
  • ·         Because teachers have great influence, they will be held more accountable.
