Deceit Is In The Hearts

Proverbs 12:19-20 – Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.

Proverbs 1:30-31 – Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

Genesis 6:5 – The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

Psalm 4:7 – Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.

James 3:18 – Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

Application:

• ·         To refuse wisdom’s “advice” is to suffer the consequences of one’s own foolish “schemes”.
• ·         And because human nature remained unchanged, things were no better after the flood.
• ·         “Heart” is in Biblical language for the center of the human spirit, from which spring emotions, thoughts, motivations, courage and action—“everything you do flows from it”.
• ·         Discord cannot produce conduct pleasing to God.
