Deuteronomy 33:2-3 – He said: “The Lord came from Sinai and dawned over
them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came
with myriads of holy ones from the
south, from his mountain slopes. Surely it is you who love the people; all the holy ones are
in your hand. At your feet they all bow down, and from you
receive instruction, the law that Moses gave us, the
possession of the assembly of Jacob.
Zechariah
14:5 – You will flee by my mountain
valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the
earthquake in the days of
Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my
God will come, and all the holy ones with him.
Deuteronomy
4:37-38 – Because
he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants
after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength, to drive out
before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their
land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.
Deuteronomy
7:6 – For you are a people holy to
the Lord your
God. The Lord your
God has chosen you out of all the
peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
Revelation
4:9-11 – Whenever the living
creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and
ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy,
our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for
you created all things, and by your will they were created
and have their being.”
Application:
- · Holy ones may include both believers and angels.
- · “He loved” is the first reference in Deuteronomy to God’s love for His people. The corollary truth is that His people should love Him.
- · Holy means separated from all corrupting people or things and consecrated totally to the Lord.
- · Lay their crowns is acknowledgment that God alone is worthy of ultimate praise and worship.
