Deuteronomy 32:5-7 – They are corrupt and not his children;
to their shame they are a warped and crooked generation. Is this
the way you repay the Lord, you foolish and unwise people? Is he not
your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you? Remember
the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask
your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to
you.
Isaiah
63:16 – But you are
our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel
acknowledge us; you, Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.
Exodus
10:1-2 – Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have
hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these
signs of mine among them that you may
tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with
the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know
that I am the Lord.”
Deuteronomy
4:10 – Remember the day you stood
before the Lord your
God at Horeb, when he said to me, “Assemble the people before
me to hear my words so that they may learn to
revere me as long as they live in the land and
may teach them to their children.”
Application:
- · Even if their human fathers abandon them, God will not.
- · The memory of God’s redemptive acts is to be kept alive by reciting them to our descendants.
- · The divine call to Israel to remember the Lord’s past redemptive acts—especially how He delivered them from slavery in Egypt—is a common theme in Deuteronomy and is summarized: “Remember the days of old”.
