Job
14:14-17 – If
someone dies, will they live again? All the days of my hard service
I will wait for my renewal to come. You will call and I
will answer you; you will long for the creature your hands have made.
Surely then you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin.
My offenses will be sealed up in a bag; you will cover over my
sin.
Job
10:3 – Does it please
you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while
you smile on the plans of the wicked?
Deuteronomy
32:34 – “Have I not
kept this in reserve and sealed it in my vaults?
Job
13:23 – How many
wrongs and sins have I committed? Show me my offense and my sin.
Application:
- · Job himself will eventually repent, and God will forgive.
- · The Lord’s plans for the future are fixed and certain. Sin will be punished in due time.
- · Job’s words are based on the counselors’ point that suffering always implies sinfulness. He does not yet understand that God has a higher purpose in his suffering.
