Job
16:11-14 – God has
turned me over to the ungodly and thrown me into the clutches of the
wicked. All was well with me, but he shattered me; he
seized me by the neck and crushed me. He has made me his target;
his archers surround me. Without pity, he pierces my kidneys and
spills my gall on the ground. Again and again he bursts upon me;
he rushes at me like a warrior.
Job
9:17 – He would
crush me with a storm and multiply my wounds for no reason.
Job
2:3 – Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant
Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who
fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any
reason.”
Job
10:3 – Does it
please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands,
while you smile on the plans of the wicked?
Application:
- · Job does not know that God has allowed Satan to crush him for a high purpose.
- · Though it is not always clear how, everything that happens is part of His divine purpose.
- · Job imagines that God is angry with him, an innocent man, and that he takes delight in the wicked.
