deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get
nothing in return.

the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”

will cry out to the Lord, but he will not

Application:
- · It is clear from such commands as “Watch out” and “You must be on your guard” that one of the main purposes of the Olivet discourse was to alert the disciples to the danger of deception.
- · The idea that God would not destroy Jerusalem simply because His dwelling, the temple, was located there was a delusion, fostered in part by the miraculous deliverance of the city during the reign of Hezekiah.
- · Disobedience leads to separation from God.
