That By Believing You May Have Life

John 20:31 – But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 1:4,7,24-25 – In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind…He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe…Now the Pharisees who had been sent questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Application:

• ·         Faith has content.
• ·         John’s purpose was to draw people to believe in Christ.
• ·         “The Messiah” means “the Anointed One”. People were looking for not just an anointed one but the Anointed One, the Messiah.
• ·         “God so loved the word” is the great truth that motivated God’s plan of salvation.
• ·         Life is Christ’s gift, and He, in fact, is “the life”.
