John 20:18-21 – Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the
news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things
to her. On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were
together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came
and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he
said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when
they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the
Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
John
14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my
peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not
let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Matthew
28:19-20 – Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of
the age.”
John
17:18 – As you sent me into the
world, I have sent them into the world.
Application:
- · “Peace…my peace” was a common Hebrew greeting. All true peace is His gift. In its greetings of peace the world can only express a longing or wish. But Jesus’ peace is real and present.
- · The doctrine of the Trinity means that there is one true God, existing eternally as three distinct persons” Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- · We may long for heaven, but it is on earth that our work is done.
