Even The Whole World Would Not Have Room

John 21:25 – Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Luke 14:25-26 – Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.

Application:

  • ·         “Even the whole world would not have room” was hyperbole. Our historical knowledge of Jesus is at best partial, but we have been given all we need to know.
  • ·         “Hate father and mother” was a vivid hyperbole, meaning that one must love Jesus even more than one’s immediate family.
