Job 2:1-3 – On another day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them to present himself before him. And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth,
going back and forth on it.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my
servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a
man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though
you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”
Genesis
3:1 – Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild
animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman,
“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Application:
- · The deceiver undertook to alienate people from God. Elsewhere he acts as an accuser to alienate God from people.
- · Though it is not always clear how, everything that happens is part of God’s divine purpose.
- · Do not think that God’s display of his majesty is intended simply to fill you with abject fear. He has come to enter into covenant with you as your heavenly King.
- · Job defends his moral integrity but also admits he is a sinner.
- · Job does not know that God has allowed Satan to crush him for a high purpose.
- · Job finally sees that God and His purposes are supreme.
