Wrongdoing

Job 1:22 – In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

Job 2:10 – He replied, “You are talking like a foolish[a] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

Proverbs 13:3 – Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.

Isaiah 53:7 – He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

Application:

  • ·         Job refuses to turn his back on God throughout the long struggle that follows.
  • ·         The ability to control the tongue is one of the clearest marks of wisdom.
  • ·         Jesus remained silent before the chief priests and Pilate and before Herod.
