Job 3:24-4:1 – For sighing has become my daily food; my groans pour
out like water. What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has
happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but
only turmoil.” Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied: “If someone ventures a
word with you, will you be impatient? But who can keep from speaking?
Isaiah
53:12 – Therefore I
will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because
he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the
transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and
made intercession for the transgressors.
John
14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my
peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not
let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Application:
- · God will reward His servant as if He were a king sharing in the spoils of a great victory.
- · All true peace is His gift, which the repetition emphasizes. In its greetings of peace the world can only express a longing or wish. But Jesus’ peace is real and present.
- · The problem is not so much with what Job’s three friends knew but with what they did not know: God’s high purpose in allowing Satan to buffet Job.
