My Food...Is To Do The Will Of Him Who Sent Me

John 4:33-34 – Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

John 10:37-38 – Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”

John 14:30-31 – I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come now; let us leave.

John 15:10 – If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

Application:

  • ·         John often mentions that Jesus depended on the Father and did the work the Father sent Him to do.
  • ·         “The works of my Father” are the kind of works of compassion that the Father Himself does.
  • ·         It was Jesus’ quality of life, not people’s inability to explain His marvels, that He spoke of.
  • ·         Jesus had stressed the importance of His followers being obedient, and He set the example.
  • ·         Obedience and love go together.
