Has Life In Himself

John 5:25-26 – Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.

John 16:32 – “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 – This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Psalm 36:9 – For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

John 1:4 – In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

Application:

  • ·         The spiritually dead who hear Him receive life from Him.
  • ·         The disciples had faith, but not enough to stand firm in the face of disaster. Jesus knew they would fail; however, His church is not built on people’s strength but on God’s ability to use people even after they have failed.
  • ·         When they chose the Lord, they chose life.
  • ·         Ultimately, for sinners, God provides the water of life through Jesus Christ.
  • ·         Life is Christ’s gift, and He, in fact, is “the life”.
  • ·         Light often symbolizes well-being or life and salvation.
