Proverbs 10:4-5 – Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent
hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who
sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
Proverbs
27:24 – Be sure you
know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;
for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all
generations.
Proverbs 19:26 – Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother is
a child who brings shame and disgrace.
Application:
- · Many proverbs praise diligence and the profit it brings, and they condemn laziness as a cause of hunger and poverty.
- · Even kings may lose their wealth and power.
- · Children were expected to take care of their parents when they were sick or elderly. Robbing them and attacking or calling down curses on them were serious crimes.
