Proverbs 8:36-9:2,17 –
But those who fail to find me harm
themselves; all who hate me love death.” Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars. She has
prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table…“Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in
secret is delicious!”
Proverbs
1:30-31 – Since
they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they
will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their
schemes.
1 Peter 2:4-5 – As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but
chosen by God and
precious to him—you also, like
living stones, are being built into a
spiritual house to be a
holy priesthood, offering
spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Application:
- · To refuse wisdom’s “advice” is to suffer the consequences of one’s own foolish “schemes”.
- · Believers are living stones that make up a spiritual temple in which, as a holy priesthood, they offer up spiritual sacrifices.
- · The banquet prepared by Lady Folly seems poorer than the wine and meat of wisdom.
