Deuteronomy
4:20 – But as for you, the Lord took you and brought you out of the
iron-smelting furnace, out of Egypt, to
be the people of his inheritance, as you now are.
Genesis 17:7 – I will establish
my covenant as an everlasting covenant between
me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be
your God and the God of
your descendants after you.
Titus 2:12-14 - It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the
appearing of the
glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for
himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
- · The period in Egypt was a time of affliction for the Israelites.
- · God’s commitment to His covenant was forever, but descendants of Abraham could break it.
- · Salvation involves the double work of redeeming us from guilt and judgment and of producing moral purity and helpful service to others.
