Deuteronomy
4:30 – When you are in distress and
all these things have happened to you, then in later days you
will return to the Lord your
God and obey him.
Psalm 4:1 – Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give
me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
Hosea 3:5 – Afterward the Israelites
will return and seek the Lord their
God and David their king. They will come trembling to
the Lord and
to his blessings in the last days.
Jeremiah 3:1 – “If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another
man, should he return to her again? Would not the land be
completely defiled? But you have lived as a prostitute with many
lovers—would you now return to me?” declares the Lord.
Application:
- · David was distressed by the threat of being publicly discredited by the slander of those who blame Him for the nation’s troubles.
- · The Hebrew for “last days” occurs 13 times in the Old Testament, sometimes simply meaning the future, but most of the time, as no doubt here, referring to the Messianic age.
- · “Return to me” means repent of your sins against me.
