Do Not Be Afraid

Deuteronomy 3:21-22 – At that time I commanded Joshua: “You have seen with your own eyes all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going. Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Exodus 14:14 – The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Application:

  • ·         The Lord’s power, not Israel’s unaided strength, achieved victory.
  • ·         By trusting in the Lord and obeying Him, His followers would be victorious in spite of great obstacles.
  • ·         “The Lord will fight for you” was a necessary reminder that although Israel was “ready for battle” and “marching out boldly”, the victory would be won by God alone.
