Deuteronomy
4:31 – For the Lord your God is a merciful God;
he will not abandon or destroy you
or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he
confirmed to them by oath.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because
of them, for the Lord your
God goes with you; he will never leave you nor
forsake you.”
Joshua 1:5 – No one will be able to stand
against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave
you nor forsake you.
Psalm 9:10 – Those who
know your name trust in
you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Genesis 22:15-18 – The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not
withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their
enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,because you have obeyed
me.”
Exodus 19:5-6 – Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
Application:
- · By trusting in the Lord and obeying Him, His followers would be victorious in spite of great obstacles.
- · God was with Joshua to direct, sustain and assure success.
- · “Those who know your name” are those who acknowledge in their hearts who the Lord is and also live out that acknowledgment.
- · There is no greater name in which the Lord can take an oath than His own name.
- · Participation in the divine blessings is conditioned on obedience added to faith.
