Afraid

Deuteronomy 1:20-21 – Then I said to you, “You have reached the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us. See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Numbers 14:9 – Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

Joshua 1:18 – Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!”

Psalm 27:14 – Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Application:

• ·         There are no walls, no fortifications, no factors of size or bearing, and certainly no gods that can withstand the onslaught of God’s people when the Lord is with them.
• ·         The people of Israel’s words of encouragement to Joshua echo and reinforce those from the Lord.
• ·         Waiting for the Lord is faith encouraging faith.
