Judges 5:2-4 – “That the leaders took the lead in Israel,
that the people offered themselves willingly, bless
the Lord! “Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes;
to the Lord I will sing; I will make melody to the Lord, the God of Israel. “Lord, when you went out from Seir, when
you marched from the region of Edom, the earth trembled and the heavens
dropped, yes, the clouds dropped water.
Psalm
110:3 – Your people
will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the
womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours.
Psalm 82:5 – They have
neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
Jeremiah 10:10 – But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the
everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations
cannot endure his indignation.
Application:
- · Willing means freewill offerings, i.e., they will offer themselves as dedicated warriors to support you on the battlefield—as the Israelites offered of their treasuries for the building of the tabernacle in the desert. Accordingly, Paul speaks of Christ’s followers offering their bodies as living sacrifices and of himself as a drink offering.
- · When those men who are wardens of justice are utterly devoid of true understanding of moral issues or of the moral order that God’s rule sustains, the whole world order crumbles.
- · Everything that idols are not, the Lord is.
