Riches Do Not Endure

Proverbs 27:20-24 – Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes. The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by their praise. Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding them like grain with a pestle, you will not remove their folly from them. Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.

Proverbs 23:5 – Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

Application:

  • ·         People must not become proud, and they must be wary of flattery.
  • ·         Even kings may lose their wealth and power.
  • ·         Our trust must be in God, not in riches.
