Leviticus
4:2-3 – “Speak to
the people of Israel, saying, If anyone sins unintentionally in any of the Lord's commandments about things not to be done, and does any
one of them, if it is the anointed priest who sins, thus bringing guilt
on the people, then he shall offer for the sin that he has committed a bull from the herd
without blemish to the Lord for a sin offering.
Leviticus
16:3,5 – But in this way Aaron shall
come into the Holy Place: with a bull from the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering…And he shall take from the congregation of the people of Israel two male goats for a
sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
Exodus 12:5-6 – Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the
sheep or from the goats, and
you shall keep it until the fourteenth
day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall
kill their lambs at twilight.
Hebrews 9:13-14 – For if the blood
of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how
much more will the blood
of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
1 Peter 1:17-19 – And if you call on
him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing
that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with
perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without
blemish or spot.
