Don't Be So Vile

Judges 19:22-23 – As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, worthless fellows, surrounded the house, beating on the door. And they said to the old man, the master of the house, “Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may know him.” And the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, “No, my brothers, do not act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, do not do this vile thing.

Romans 1:26-27 – For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

1 Samuel 2:12 – Now the sons of Eli were worthless men. They did not know the Lord.

Joshua 7:15 – And he who is taken with the devoted things shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he has done an outrageous thing in Israel.’”

Application:

  • ·         Homosexual practice is sinful in God’s eyes.
  • ·         To know the Lord is to enter into fellowship with Him and acknowledge His claims on one’s life.
  • ·         “Disgraceful thing” in Israel was an act that within Israel, as the covenant people of the Lord, is an outrage of utter valley.
