Application:

  • ·         He is the “light of the world”, who holds out wonderful hope for humanity and for the creation.
  • ·         Jesus was saying more than that He gives resurrection and life. He is life. Jesus not only is life, but He also conveys life to believers so that death will never triumph over them.
  • ·         Jesus is not one way among many but the only way.
  • ·         Seeing the light means experiencing the light, having the light or enjoying the light. Light was life in its fullness as it was created to be.
  • ·         It is also true that “God is light”. And as Jesus’ followers reflect the light that comes from Him, they too are “the light of the world”. “God is light”, but Jesus is also the light from God that lights the way for life—as the pillar of fire lit the way for the Israelites.
  • ·         Eternal life is Christ’s gift.
  • ·         “God so loved the word” is the great truth that motivated God’s plan of salvation.
  • ·         Light often symbolizes well-being or life and salvation. To say “The Lord is my light” is to confess confidence in Him as the source of these benefits.
