Proverbs 21:17-20 – Whoever loves pleasure will become poor;
whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich. The wicked
become a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the
upright. Better to live in a desert than with a
quarrelsome and nagging wife. The wise store up choice food and
olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.
Proverbs
23:20-21 – Do not
join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat,
for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in
rags.
Isaiah 43:3 – For I am
the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your
stead.
Proverbs 3:9-10 – Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be
filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim
over with new wine.
Application:
- · Drunkenness is condemned.
