Samuel, “I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of
the men and so I gave in to them.

so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
2
Samuel 12:13 – Then David said to Nathan, “I
have sinned against the Lord.”
Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.
Application:
- · Saul’s confession retains an element of self-justification and a shift of blame.
- · David acknowledges that his sin was preeminently against God.
- · There is a clear contrast between David’s confession and Saul’s. David experienced the joy of knowing his sin was forgiven. The Lord, in His grace, released David from the customary death penalty.
