Samuel 7:14-15 – I
will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him
with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, but my
steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul,
whom I put away from before you.
Hebrews 12:7 – It is for
discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there
whom his father does not discipline?
Proverbs 13:24 – Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves
him is diligent to discipline him.
Psalm 45:6-9 – Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond
your companions; your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad; daughters of kings
are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the
queen in gold of Ophir.
