Leviticus
26:40-42 – “‘But if
they will confess their sins and the sins of their
ancestors—their unfaithfulness and their hostility toward me, which made me hostile toward them so that I
sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with
Abraham, and I will remember the land.
Acts 7:51 – “You stiff-necked people! Your
hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just
like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
Isaiah 53:6,11 – We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has
turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all…After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be
satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Application:
- · The members of the Sanhedrin were not truly consecrated to the Lord.
- · The Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all, just as the priest laid his hands on the scapegoat and symbolically put Israel’s sins on it.
- · The one sacrifice of Christ brings perfect satisfaction.
