Desire

1 Samuel 9:17-20 – When Samuel caught sight of Saul, the Lord said to him, “This is the man I spoke to you about; he will govern my people.” Saul approached Samuel in the gateway and asked, “Would you please tell me where the seer’s house is?” “I am the seer,” Samuel replied. “Go up ahead of me to the high place, for today you are to eat with me, and in the morning I will send you on your way and will tell you all that is in your heart. As for the donkeys you lost three days ago, do not worry about them; they have been found. And to whom is all the desire of Israel turned, if not to you and your whole family line?”

Isaiah 60:5 – Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.

Daniel 2:44 – “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.

Haggai 2:7 – I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty.

Malachi 3:1 – “I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.

Application:

  • ·         Jerusalem will be enriched by the nations.
  • ·         In Daniel, the fifth kingdom is the eternal kingdom of God, built on the ruins of the sinful empires of the world. Its authority will extend over “the whole earth” and ultimately over “a new heaven and a new earth”.
  • ·         When Christ came to the earthly temple in Jerusalem, God’s presence was evident as never before.
  • ·         When the Lord comes, it will be to purify and judge, but He will mercifully send one before Him to prepare His people.
