tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king
you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

58:4 – Your fasting
ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked
fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your
voice to be heard on high.

fast, I will not listen to their cry; though they offer burnt offerings and
grain offerings, I will not accept them.
Instead, I will destroy them with the sword, famine and
plague.”

will cry out to the Lord, but he will not answer them.

all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the Lord.
