Deuteronomy
18:10-13 – Let no
one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages
in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or
spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does
these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations
before you. You must be
blameless before the Lord your God.
Leviticus 18:21 – “‘Do not give
any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for
you must not profane the name of your God. I
am the Lord.
1 Samuel 15:23 – For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and
arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”
Psalm 119:1 – Blessed
are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.
Matthew 5:48 – Be perfect,
therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Application:
- · Whatever blatantly violates God’s revealed will desecrates His name because it fails to honor His holiness.
- · A king who sets his own will above the command of the Lord ceases to be an instrument of the Lord’s rule over His people, violating the very nature of his theocratic office.
- · Blessed are those whose ways are blameless.
- · Christ sets up the high ideal of perfect love—not that we can fully attain it in this life. That, however, is God’s high standard for us.
