2 Samuel 22:44-50 – “You have delivered me from the attacks of the peoples;
you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me, foreigners
cower before me; as soon as they
hear of me, they obey me. They all lose heart; they come
trembling from their strongholds. “The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be my God, the Rock, my Savior!
He is the God who avenges me, who puts the nations under me, who
sets me free from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from a violent man
you rescued me. Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing
the praises of your name.
Psalm
18:46 – The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God my Savior!
Psalm
144:2 – He is my
loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues
peoples under me.
Romans 15:8-9 – For I tell you that Christ has become a
servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: “Therefore
I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your
name.”
Application:
- · God’s interventions and blessings in David’s behalf have shown Him to be the living God.
- · My loving God is literally, “my unfailing love”; so called because God is the source of benevolent acts of love that David can count on—just as God can be called “my salvation” because he is the source of salvation.
- · God’s greatest and climactic act for Israel’s salvation was the sending of the Messiah to fulfill the promises made to the patriarchs and so to gather in the great harvest of the Gentiles.
