Samuel 22:44-45 – “You
have delivered me from the attacks of the peoples;
you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know now serve
me, foreigners cower before me; as soon as they
hear of me, they obey me.
Isaiah 55:3-5 – Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting
covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. See, I have made him a
witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the peoples. Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come
running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with
splendor.”
Application:
- · Christ’s resurrection was proof of God’s faithfulness to David.
- · David was a witness to the peoples because he exalted the Lord among the nations. David’s Son, the Messiah, is a witness to the peoples because he is a light to the nations.
- · The attraction of nations to Zion and to the God of Israel is a major Biblical theme. The nation will be restored physically and spiritually.
