Leviticus 7:38-8:2 – This is the law of the burnt offering, of the grain
offering, of the sin offering, of the guilt offering, of the
ordination offering, and of the peace offering, which the Lord commanded Moses on Mount
Sinai, on the day that he commanded the people of Israel to bring their
offerings to the Lord, in the
wilderness of Sinai. The Lord spoke
to Moses, saying, “Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments
and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams
and the basket of unleavened bread.
Exodus
28:1 – “Then bring near to you Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the
people of Israel, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron's sons, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
Exodus 40:16 – This Moses did;
according to all that the Lord commanded
him, so he did.
Exodus 29:7 – You shall take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.
Application:
- · Priests served in order to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins and to deal gently with those who were ignorant and were going astray. Priests were to read the law of Moses to the people and remind them of their covenant obligations.
- · It was the people who provided all the resources and made all the components, but it was the Lord’s servant Moses who was authorized to erect the tabernacle and prepare it for the Lord’s entry.
- · Anointing Aaron symbolized spiritual endowment for serving God.
