Witness

Revelation 1:4-6 - John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Isaiah 55:4 - Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples.

Revelation 3:14 - “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.

Colossians 1:18 - And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

Application:

·         Witness to the people is a reference either to David, who exalted the Lord among the nations, or to David’s Son, the Messiah, who was a light to the nations.

·         Jesus is the true witness.

·         Christ was the first to rise from the dead with a resurrection body. Others who were raised from the dead were raised only to die again.
