into it by a skilled worker.
Genesis
3:24 – After he drove the man out,
he placed on the east side[a] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and
a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the
tree of life.
Matthew
27:51-52 – At that
moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top
to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs
broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
Application:
- · The curtain was to separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. It was called the “shielding curtain” because it shielded the ark.
- · Cherubim were similar to the statues of winged figures that stood guard at the entrances to palaces and temples in ancient Mesopotamia.
- · The tearing of the curtain signified Christ’s making it possible for believers to go directly into God’s presence.
