Son Of The Blessed One
Mark 14:61-62 - But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
Isaiah 53:7 - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
Mark 11:30 - Was the baptism of John from heaven or from man? Answer me.”
Mark 8:31 - And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Daniel 7:13 - “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.
Psalm 110:1 - The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”
Application:
· The Blessed One was a way of referring to God without pronouncing His name.
· Heaven was a common Jewish term for God, often substituted for the divine name to avoid a possible misuse of it.
· The Son of Man is pictured as a heavenly figure who in the end times is entrusted by God with authority, glory and sovereign power.
· The Son of Man will be enthroned as ruler over the whole earth, and His kingdom will never be destroyed, whether on earth or in heaven.
· Right hand is the place of honor beside a king; thus Jesus’ exaltation to this position makes Him second in authority to God Himself.
